What is WiZ and how does it work?WiZ is a connected lighting system. WiZ ligths are set-up through your Wi-Fi network and can be controlled with the WiZ application on your iOS or Android phone and tablet, with the WiZmote remote control or with your traditional power switch thanks to the WiZclick feature. Additionally, you can schedule the behavior of your lights, for example to follow your routines or to simulate presence. You can also now use Amazon Alexa or Google Home to control your lights with the power of your voice. Voice control is a new feature allowing you to connect your Amazon Echo or Google Home devices to your WiZ home, and simply speak to control your lights. By recently interfacing with IFTTT you can now connect tons of features to your lights, such as the GPS of your phone, your favorite Weather app, or any other IFTTT connected device. This is all part of the WiZ Magic.

WiZ lights: WiZ Colors and WiZ Whites.WiZ lights: WiZ Colors and WiZ Whites. Two kinds of WiZ lights exist. WiZ Colors, and WiZ Whites. WiZ Whites lights offer lighting capabilities ranging from warm white to cool white only. You can have both WiZ Whites and WiZ Colors lights within a same room. However, it is not possible to create a mixed group. If you select a whole room containing both types of lights, and apply a color light mode, only the WiZ Colors lights will react, and WiZ Whites lights will not change their light mode, since they cannot emit color. On the left is the packaging of a WiZ Whites bulb, note the "white" bottom of the screw. On the right is the packaging of a WiZ Colors bulb, note the "blue" bottom of the screw.

Setting lights to “pairing mode”.To make sure only you can add your lights to your system, there is a special procedure to perform to make the lights “discoverable” at the moment you decide to add them to your Home. We call this the “pairing mode”. 1. "Ready to pair" If your light has never been paired before, then it will simply enter pairing mode when you power it on. To avoid creating disturbances, the light will not give any visual feedback (such as blinking or pulsing). But it will be available for pairing. Note that this will also be triggered if: - the light has been paired before but cannot find its usual network when powered on - the light has been paired before and found its network at power on, but could not connect to it due to a wrong password 2. Manually triggering pairing mode To trigger it, you need to turn ON your light 3 times in a row with the power switch, with 1-2 seconds between each ON. Then your light will start to pulse in blue (color light) or cool white (tunable white light). It is ready to be added to your Home in your WiZ application. Note: If you have re-pairing your light and have not deleted it from the application before doing so, pairing mode will be triggered by ON 5 times. So as a more general rule you can put your light in pairing mode by turning it repeatedly OFF and ON with the power switch until it pulses in blue (color light) or cool white (tunable white light). 3. "Manual setup" (Access Point pairing) Once you have manually triggered pairing and the light starts pulsing, it will be listening for 1 minute for pairing messages from your phone. After 1 minute, the pulsing pattern will change to a double pulse. Color lights will be in purple. This signals that the light is now emitting its own Wi-Fi and ready for "Manual setup" in WiZ app.

Adding a WiZ light in the system.First of all, please make sure that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz). In the main screen of the application, select the room in which you want to add a light. If the room has no light, there will be a Start button to start the pairing, if there are already lights in the room press the + button in the top right corner. If necessary, provide your Wi-Fi password. Then pairing process will start in the application. Power off your light, then power it back on and start the pairing. The light should soon show up on your screen. In case this first step didn't work, then put your light in pairing mode by turning it repeatedly OFF and ON with the power switch until it pulses in blue (color light) or cool white (tunable white light), and start the pairing again. If the second step fails, then simply go for "Manual setup", which allows your phone to connect directly to your light's Wi-Fi to complete the pairing. Once your light shows in the application, you can start using it.

Pairing TroubleshootingIn order to connect your lights, please check the troubleshooting steps below. Still having an issue? Contact our support team via the chat function in the app (Support > Chat with us) and we'll help you fix it! 1 - Check that the lamp or bulb is within Wi-Fi range. Go next to the bulb or lamp with your mobile, and check that you are well connected to Wi-Fi. If the bulb is too far away, it cannot connect. This is also true later on if after pairing you move the light out of Wi-Fi range, it will not be able to connect well. 2 - Check that your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi on your home router. 2.4GHz is the Wi-Fi band used by the lamps because it covers more distance than 5GHz. Your phone has to be on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi so that the pairing works. If your router does not distinguish between 5GHz and 2.4GHz, you may need to check inside the router settings ( http://192.168.1.1/ ). If you do not know which network you are on, go check your router settings, your router probably gives the same name to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. You probably need to go into "Advanced Wi-Fi Settings" and check a checkbox saying "have different SSID for each network" (or something equivalent). Then, rename your 5GHz network by adding "-5GHz" at the end. Now, in your phone list of available networks, you should see one named "my wi-fi name" and one named "my wi-fi name -5GHz". Choose the one without 5GHz, it will therefore be the 2.4GHz one. The lamps get the credentials of your router via a protocol named UDP. Please check that UDP is not blocked on your network in your router settings. 3 - Start pairing in the WiZ app Tap on the [+] icon to add new lamp(s), then double check if you are connecting to the Wi-Fi network of your home and enter the Wi-Fi password to search for the lamp. If no lamp is found, put the lamp into pairing mode with pulsating light (pulsing in Cool White if you have a WiZ Whites, pulsing Blue if you have WiZ Colors). You need to turn off and on your electric switch with an action about every second until you reach this mode. Normally, the mode is reached after 3 times ON. If the lamp has already been paired, the mode is reached after 5 times ON.The lamp must be pulsing to be found by the phone or tablet. The pairing mode looks like this for Tunable White lights on the left and Colors lights on the right: If the WiZ light blinks in red (or blink in white for non-colour lamps) during pairing, it might be encountering the below issues: - Wrong Wi-Fi password - Network router is out of range - DHCP problem and connection fail In that case, please double check the Wi-Fi password or restart the network router. If no lights have been found, you can tap on "Try Manual Setup". Wait for the next screen to open and follow the instructions, which will make you open the Wi-Fi settings of your phone and connect to Wi-Fi: " WiZConfig_XXXX" PS: Some phones might require confirmation when connecting to Wi-Fi without internet connection. When the light is in Manual Setup" mode and emits a Wi-Fi signal, it will pulse in purple color: Once the mobile phone is connected to the Wi-Fi emitted by the WiZ light, go back to the WiZ app and wait for the process to complete. If you are still facing issues after trying these exact steps 2 or 3 times, please contact our support team using the in-app chat and tell us at which step you are having an issue. We will get back to you as fast as we can. 6 - Wait a little (maximum 5 minutes), there must be a spinner and the lamp should be found. If the lamp flashes in red, it is usually that the Wi-Fi password you entered is incorrect. If it goes normally, the lamp should be found and appear in the application. If after trying 2 or 3 times doing these exact steps, it does not work, do not hesitate to contact our support using the in-app chat and tell us at which step number you are having an issue, we try to answer as fast as we can.

Then follow the on-screen prompts: - Power off the retroconnector - Power back on - Tap on "Start" to initiate the pairing session If you cannot access the power supply of the retroconnector (for example if it is connected directly to the main power without a switch), you can alternatively press the button on the retroconnector for 3s to 7s, and the retroconnector will enter pairing mode. The status LED will always blink to indicate that the retroconnector has entered pairing mode. A third way to force the retroconnector is to use repeatedly power it off and on (leaving around 1s for each step). - If it has never been paired, it will enter pairing mode after ON x3 - If it is already paired, it will enter pairing mode after ON x5 Pressing the button for more than 10s will reset the retroconnector entirely.

Sign in with Google, Facebook, Yandex"WiZ cares a lot about your privacy, and will not ask you for any sign in to get started with your lights. We will create an anonymous account for you on our Cloud. We do however strongly recommend all of our users to sign with Google, Facebook or iCloud. Rest assured, WiZ does not view, retrieve or store any kind of personal data from the accounts you link it with. Here is why we think you should sign in: Since the account we create for you is entirely anonymous, it is only linked to your phone and the current installation of the WiZ app. If you delete the WiZ app without having signed in, all of your settings will be gone. If you change your phone and reinstall the app, you also cannot recover your settings. Signing in saves all the settings of your home, rooms and lights onto the cloud by linking them with your iCloud, Google or Facebook. Once you have signed in, you can: Sign in with the same account on more devices (like your tablet) and automatically synchronize all your WiZ settings, so you can use your lights with all the screens of your home Retrieve all your settings on your new phone by just signing back in Invite other people to join your WiZ home. Sign in is required to be able to invite, since we need to make sure that the owner of the home can always recover it. Android: Open the side bar menu and scroll down to Account, only Google, Yandex and/or Facebook are available on the Android app. iOS: Go to Settings and tap on Sign In under Account, and you have an option to sign in with Apple, Google, Yandex and/or Facebook. Log out and log in the WiZ app:

Can’t find "WiZ-config-xxxx" in the Wi-Fi settings during manual setup"If you can't find "WiZ-config-xxxx" in your Wi-Fi settings during manual setup then it could means this feature is not available yet for your light. But it is also good to make sure the WiZ light is within the Wi-Fi coverage area and not installed in a closed metal fixture such as some metal devices can significantly block the Wi-Fi signal and please follow the "Pairing Troubleshooting" to pair again.
